Neritan Zinxhiria was born in April 1989 in Tirana, Albania. In the winter of 1990, his family immigrated to Greece. In 2008, he was awarded as the Best Newcoming Director in Drama IFF for his first short film “The Best Bride” (15’). His second film “Chamomile” (15’) won the Golden Horseman at the 2013 Dresden IFF, followed by other prestigious worldwide selections and 20 awards. In Greece, the film has won six awards including the Best Short Film Award in Drama IFF, the Best Short Film Award in Athens IFF and the Best Short Film of the Year Award given by the Hellenic Film Academy. His third short “The Time of a Young Man About To Kill” (19’), a prize winner in Audi’s hometown Ingolstadt, premiered in Busan, South Korea. His last short film “A Country of Two”, an experimental mosaic of found footage and photos, had a successful run in film festivals and museums around the world (Encounters IFF, Festival Des Cinemas Differents de Paris/Pompidou).
Known for his convincing work with non-professional actors and having as a center of inspiration the themes of loss and death, he continues exploring how the latter shapes our memory and culture.
